WHY GO
Turtle is one of the Yasawa islands, 20 volcanic mounds scattered in a 90km eyebrow shape above Fiji's main island, Viti Levu. Some are small and hilly, others violently jagged and tall. Although their population is only about 5,000, the Yasawas are home to some 30 resorts, from backpacker to five-star properties. Turtle is one of these; a private, beautiful, desert-island idyll, with no cars, TVs or telephones, but 14 gorgeous beaches and accommodation for just 28 guests.
