WHY GO
With its deserted beaches, olive groves and vine-shaded cafés, Turkey's little-known Datça peninsula, the 45km finger of little-visited uplands on Turkey's south-west corner, is a bucolic treat ripe for discovery. And it's within hopping distance of Greek islands. For a panoramic spectacular of the peninsula's backwater virtues, the two-hour ferry crossing is the best way to arrive.

There is a high threat from terrorism in Turkey. Always consult the Foreign Office before travelling.
