Who says you can't have style on a budget? Why miss out on Living Divani daybeds, Brionvega televisions (you know, those cool, table-top ones with rounded corners that you wouldn't have been seen dead watching 15 years ago) and first-run, special-edition Sixties-style lamps by Flos? You can have it all at low-cost designer hotel 25hours, although you will have to do without room service, mini-bars and
toiletries. The fun and funky retro theme suits the young media and creative types who frequent this part of Hamburg, to the west of the city centre.
The curved walls of the mirrored reception flow between the Day/Night bar and a multi-functional 'entertaining space' with an open fire. Flexible lighting allows for mood changes throughout the day: brighter for breakfast, darker for the evening club scene. The bedrooms are mainly white, with cushions and throws in pale blues and greens, matching the Seventies-style patterned wallpaper. The bespoke bedroom and bathroom furniture, in white MDF, is mixed with string curtains beneath bare concrete ceilings. The heart of the hotel is the Living Room, a lounge/library with vending machines to replace room service. Relax in the semi-open TV area leading to the
terrace, or chat with fellow guests at one of the oversized tables.
