| Awarded a Michelin star in 2002 and named Michelin Pub of the Year 2008, The Olive Branch was converted from farm labourers' cottages in 1890 to a village pub, which closed a decade ago and was reopened as a gastropub by the current owners. Sean Hope's imaginative restaurant-style dishes include warm tartlet of wood pigeon, wild-mushroom fricassé; pan-fried fillet of wild seabass, scallop fennel rosti, and pub classics with a twist, Olive Branch fish and chips, tomato sauce and minted peas). The owners passionately champion local produce. Warming winter dishes include butternut squash curry, pumpkin soup, and artichoke and beetroot risotto. In 2005 the owners acquired a property across the road and a year later opened Beech House, comprising six luxurious suites with hand-stitched sprung mattresses, Egyptian linen and duck-down duvets.
